The good news is that shaving no longer needs to be the bane that it was. For a close, effortless shave that doesn’t harm the skin follow these steps and reap the benefits.
SOAK
Wash your face and neck with warm water and soap to help remove dirt, natural oils and perspiration that inhibit water penetration. Applying warm water causes facial hair to expand, making it softer and easier to cut.
PREPARE
Apply plenty of shave gel. Although water is essential for softening, the water absorbed by hair quickly evaporates, leaving hair in its original state. Shave gel provides a protective layer that prevents the evaporation of water and keeps hair soft. In addition, using a shave gel that will reduce friction between blade and skin, improving razor glide for a smoother shave.
RELAX
Use light, gentle strokes. Your razor should do the work, not you. Your hair grows in different directions, so light, gentle strokes are the best way to get the closest, most comfortable shave. For ultimate comfort rinse the razor frequently to prevent buildup on the blade edges and cartridge.
SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST
The toughest hairs grow on the chin and around the lips. Shave these areas last, as more time soaking in shave gel will soften them further.
TRIM
Gillette Fusion and Gillette Fusion Power are equipped with a special Precision Trimmer Blade on the back of the razor. Use it after shaving the large areas of your face to trim sideburns, under the nose, and to shape facial hair. It will provide clean lines and a tidy finish to your shave.
RINSE AND PROTECT
After shaving, rinse your face and neck with cool water and pat dry. In addition, use an after shave balm, which will comfort the skin after shaving. At the end of every shave, rinse the razor thoroughly and shake off excess water before storing. Do not wipe the blades, as this can damage the fine shaving edge.
CHANGE BLADES
Fresh blades provide a smoother, more comfortable shave and help prevent cuts and irritation.
