He is not once, not twice but three times a biter. Luis Suarez makes headlines again following Uruguay’s, controversial 1-0 victory over Italy in last night’s group D match and knocking out the favourites.

The tedious biting streak started in 2010 while he was playing for Ajax in Holland. He got a seven game suspension for biting PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bakkal on the shoulder. The second came last year whilst playing for Liverpool. He got suspended for ten games this time after he was found guilty for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic on the arm.
“I am deeply sorry for my inexcusable behaviour earlier today during our match against Chelsea.” He told reporters after the Chelsea game. “I have issued an apology and have tried to contact Branislav Ivanović to speak to him personally. I apologise also to my manager, playing colleagues and everyone at Liverpool Football Club for letting them down.”
Saying sorry would be seen that the player knows what he does wrong and tries making amends for it.

Apart from the biting, the player has also been involved in racial incidents with Manchester United’s Patrice Evra for which he was suspended and then the whole ‘not shaking Evra’s hand’ when he played them next was also media hype.
You would think after all the controversy that surrounds the Uruguayan he would learn his lesson. Especially after an amazing season with Liverpool without any incidents. But I guess old habits die-hard as the Uruguayan struck again. He is seen to bite Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during last night’s game without punishment. He even falls to the ground writhing in pain, clutching his jaw.
“These situations happen on the field,” he said. “I had contact with his shoulder, chest against shoulder and I got a knock to the eye – nothing more.”
Italy even played the last 30 minutes with 10 men after a red card was shown to Claudio Marchisio by Mexican ref Marco Rodriguez – coincidentally nicknamed Dracula. But the game is over and Italy goes home. FIFA will have their hands full. Uruguay defend their star player, Italy are outraged and both video and picture evidence clearly show bite marks on Chiellini. FIFA need to take action and Suarez could find himself a lengthy game ban once again.
